I still remember when I met a friend of school, of my past, inside of a bus, with the expression:
“Add me on Orkut, Diogo!!!”.
He was one more person, talking to me about this Orkut. I really didn’t know about this, but my curiosity was increasing, because whatever that was, I would say: it became viral!!! In my time at college, people talked just about this. One day, in the computer class, my beautiful friend Bianca asked me:
“Do you have a profile here, Diogo?”.
I saw, and again, I was facing it: Orkut!!! I said that I haven’t had it yet. Then, with much patience, she taught me about my profile: photo, me, preferences, searches... My first profile was ready on a social media. And quickly, I realized the real extension of such an Orkut: in a little time, I found almost all people of my class, at CEFET, including another beautiful woman, Ludmila, that became a law judge!!! In other circumstances, I also found other friends of Church, family...
Nowadays, the social medias are a reality. After Orkut, Facebook, Google Plus (unsuccessful successor of Orkut), Tweeter, Instagram, Whatsapp and others emerged strongly as alternatives, in such a way that just who does not want to communicate, does not connect.
And… What are advantages and disadvantages of this?
The world is now a long avenue, where people are crossing our ways, our lives… There are experiences, dramas, stories and lessons that formed (and form) our intellects, personalities, and even our moral. The social medias have a power, through technology (notebooks, smartphones, tablets…) and quickness of communication forms to modify and to create trends in politics, culture, join friends and couples, give the peace and traceability to people, and to the world…
Maybe it’s been difficult since the way how we live. With the same quickness that gives happiness, brings the pain, because of temptations and problems that also occur in this world. Crimes, wars, lack of dialogue, fears… problems that also involve the contact with the news… How is it possible to bring just good things about the internet, and especially, the social medias?
It is possible not to answer this question. It depends on how we employ our knowledge, our experience, feelings, dreams… and we need to remember that the social medias help to decrease distances, but don’t replace the human contact itself. In this way, we may enjoy the advantage that the medias brought for our society, for our lives. While we remember this fact, the social medias are elements of pleasure and proximity, bringing joy for all.
